"It was a pleasure to write this letter of recommendation on behalf of Greg Caldwell. Greg was the general contractor for the build out of a commercial rental space leased from our non profit in 2012. We had no prior relationship with Greg, who was chosen by our lessee.
The scope of the build out included demolition of approximately 3500 sq. ft. of commercial space, construction of men's and women's ADA restrooms, interior framing, Marmoleum Flooring installation, window replacement, door replacement, HVAC, all electrical work, exterior painting, ceiling repairs, and all finish work. The project was agreed upon 3 month time frame, with a budget of roughly $300,000.00. Greg's services during this time were superb as he oversaw all aspects of the construction.
Greg deserves top marks in the following areas:
Quality of work performed. The quality of work done was consistently of high quality. Greg used subcontractors who were knowledgeable, skilled, and competent in their respective fields. They were conscientious about following project specifications.
Project management and coordination. Greg's prior experience working in construction was evident. He was knowledgeable about all aspects of the project, and was able to plan, coordinate the activities of different work crews effectively. He remained closely involved in overseeing the project from start to finish while being on the job site daily, working weekends when required.
Integrity and professionalism. Throughout the project, I was impressed with Greg's commitment to generating a top quality product, rather than maximizing his profit margin. When situations arose where extra work needed to be done, if it was relatively minor Greg just took care of it without charging extra.
Effective communication. Greg kept everyone closely informed of project progress. His communication was always clear, informative, and helpful. He was generally available on his cell phone, or returned calls within 2-3 hours. We noticed that the communication with his crews was just as efficient.
Value. While we were not involved in the bid process we were very impressed with the craftsmanship and his attention to detail. Furthermore, Greg is a team player that brought value to the project, for both organizations and the community as a whole.
